What is the history behind microblading?

Microblading rose in popularity about 25 years ago throughout Asia. Not much is known about its earlier history but the existence of similar techniques of implanting pigment in the skin after creating fine incisions could be traced back to thousands of years. Although microblading only became known/popular in the U.S and Europe in 2010.

What are the different techniques or styles of semi permanent make up?

For microblading the technician will do “hair like” strokes, so it can appear as actual hair in your brows looking very natural. Shading/ombre is a more makeup technique that’ll almost look like when you fill in your brows yourself but with a more natural touch. How long does semi permanent services take?

The service takes anywhere from 2-3 hours. This is because that timing includes doing a consultation before getting started, drawing the mock brow so the client can confirm the shape, and also the numbing process before the service gets started.

How long does Microblading last?

Microblading can last from 12 - 18 months. Keep in mind it is a 2 part service, you will need a touch up 6-8 weeks after the initial service for the best results.

Does microblading hurt?

Before the treatment the therapist will apply a topical numbing cream for 20-25 minutes and again halfway through the service. Most people who’ve had microblading say there’s barely any pain. Experiences vary depending on individual pain tolerance

What is the aftercare?

Expect darker color for the first few days as the color oxidizes. Apply aftercare cream twice a day. No direct water contact for 7-10 days. No sun tanning. No picking or peeling flakey skin. Avoid makeup on or around the brow area.

How long does it take to heal?

It takes 7-10 days to heal following very specific aftercare instructions.

How do you take care of your lip blush service?

  1. Keep your lip moist all the time only with the special aftercare product.
  2. Don’t eat spicy foods or hot liquids for 48 hours. No oily, salty or acidic foods or alcohol during the healing process (approximately 3 weeks).
  3. Lips will be tender at first after the procedure. Drink only through a straw. Choose to only eat foods you can place in your mouth with a fork without touching the lips.

What can I expect after the procedure?

Your lips will be swollen, tender and have a heavy thick lipstick look. The color will appear darker for the first few days than what it would look like after it has healed. Exfoliation begins with very chapped lips. The color will become lighter as the epidermis sloughs off. It will appear that lips have lost all of their color during this phase of healing; however, when lips have healed completely, the dermal layer will gradually become darker.
